The set is performing as i expect since a portable radio. The set works quite well within my car with a cassette player adapter playing the xm broadcast from the headphone jack. The reception is very stable while the set sits within the cup holder between the front seats.
I tested the set inside a restaurant sitting about 5 feet away from the closest window and the reception was still quite good and the sound quality of the tune was quite high . I played nearby with the eq setting and found because the different equalizing setting would definitely affect the sound quality.
Not having the particular xmp3 car cradle, i’m using the car charger and the cassette player adapter from an older xt roady unit, so i get not had a chance toward test the xmp3’s fm transmitting capabilities. However, with reduced fm transmission power as required by the fcc, using fm transmission toward listen at the hand of a car’s fm radio while within a most city like los angeles may be a challenge as i get experienced before with many other fm transmission products.
In short, i find the receiving part of this set is strong. The sound quality of the live broadcast is good. The control is easy toward understand and use. I get not tested the mp3 player so i cannot comment on because. The price is high but then Pioneer GEX-XMP3 works as it is supposed toward.
